We recognise that the health and wellbeing of our workforce is a top priority in order to deliver high quality care to our patients. We have introduced ‘Peer to Peer’ P2P, which is a confidential listening service and is the first line of support for staff at Milton Keynes University Hospital. We also have a 24 hour telephone advice line service for staff called Care First, these are part of our comprehensive staff and wellbeing service.
In many situations, having another person to talk to can lighten our load. Listening helps us to feel valued as well as giving us the opportunity to consider how our stress might be managed. Peer to Peer (P2P) support is the first line of support for staff at MKUH.
There are a number of "listeners" around the Trust who can be identified by their green P2P badges (pictured below) who have been trained in listening skills but are not acting as counsellors. Please feel free to stop them in the corridor for a chat anytime, or to arrange a time and place that would be more convenient.
